Community Service Projects

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give".

"Beyond Our Community" Service Projects

From small projects to large, we hope to have just the community service project that will inspire you to use your talents, creativity and skills to brighten the life of someone in need.  In addition to sewing and quilt projects, there are also knit and crochet options as well.  Projects range from baby blankets, to hats, to scarves, to hearts, and eyeglass cases.

Samples of some of these items will be at the March meeting.  There will be signup sheets for you to add your name and email address, and the project details will be emailed to you.  Choose as many projects as you want to participate in.

       Berks Heim Christmas Stockings

Judy Z. met with the staff at Berks Heim to organize the Christmas Stocking campaign for 2023.  Berks Heim has requested 420 stockings for their guests.  Patterns and directions will be available at the sign-in table.

                               Quilts for Kids

BQG is looking for a person or persons to coordinate our participation with Quilts for KIDS (QFK).  As mentioned in the President's message, millions of pounds of fabric has been saved from landfills and QFK has distributed thousands of quilts worldwide.  Gail Kain has offered to pick up kits and fabric as well as drop off completed quilts, but we need someone here to distribute the kits, keep track of members who signed kits out, and collect and wash them when they are returned.  Please contact Lorraine at lhouseman@comcast.net if interested.

Pillowcases for Breast Cancer Support Services

Kim K. in continuing to collect pillowcases for breast cancer.  They ask that the pillowcases have pink on them but not the breast cancer ribbon.  This has been an ongoing Community Service project for several years and the guild has sewn over 400 pillowcases.
