The "Thursday" group has arrived! It's dark outside, but quiet inside, and Linda, Steph and June get started. |
Mary works on her hand appliqued raffle block, while Jean concentrates on a project. |

Kay gets wild and funky making a "bag" for the Bag Lady Contest. She wasn't quite sure where she'd use something like this. Maybe "for church???" |
Linda and June have their second wind, and are going strong. |
Molly and Jean arrived late on Thurs. Both are tired and not at all happy with having their pictures taken. In fact, threats were made......but were ignored! |
Did you ever see anyone smile so broadly when they are ironing??? Inhaling those fabric pherenomes will do that to a person, right Dawn? |
On Friday, 30 more quilters arrived, and were anxious to get started. |
Elmo and Deb are thinking so hard, you can almost see the smoke coming out of their ears! |
An iron with feet? What's this newfangled thing. |
Kauffman's Sewing Center lent us the new Oliso Touch and Glide iron. Notice the "feet" on the bottom. At a touch of the handle, they disappear. |
Barb has the new iron figured out....and she likes it! |
Rosie is caught with her hand in the cookie jar.....er.....snack table! It's OK, Rosie, there's more than enough to go around. |
Even massages were given at retreat this year! (Notice the massager in Connie's hand) |
What's that in Katie's hand? A liver pick for turning??? Stay away from that table!!! Katie brought "scary devices!" |
Some retreaters sit calmly, enjoying the peace, serenity, and feelings of satisfaction knowing projects are progressing nicely.......... |
........while others are ripping their hair out of their heads in frustration of projects not going exactly as planned! |
The 1-Hour Block Challenge was a fun, but stressful event. The challengers were hustling to finish. One contestant (who shall remain nameless) said, "The stress! It was like having a heat flash......for an hour!" |
After frantically finishing her block, Molly needed "chocolate....and lots of it!" In fact, the poor photographer was threatened yet again.....and this time wisely backed off! Especially after her heat flash comment (oops.......I let it slip Molly!) |
These eight, brave quilters all took the challenge, and all did a great job. |
These three winners emerged. |
While the food is always delicious at Black Rock Retreat, Jean's favorite part of the retreat is the ice cream sundaes!!! |
After a delicious meal, quilters gather outside on the deck and take in the beautiful surrounding. |
